Parents as Teachers offers periodic screening of overall development to provide early detection of potential problems and prevent later difficulties.

Ages and Stages, the assessment tool used, is set up in questionnaire form for parents to record observations of their child’s behavior. This helps parents know what behaviors can be expected and what behaviors are not within their child’s developmental reach.

Our parent educators review the completed questionnaire and convert each response to a point value. Scores are compared to established screening cut-off points. If areas of development receive scores below the cut off, parent educators can assist parents in seeking additional assessment from other agencies.
