The Kids' Culinary Contest
Recipes for Second Annual Contest Must be in by Feb. 22
As a part of the Putnam City Schools Child Nutrition Education Plan, Sodexho and the Child Nutrition Department are teaming together in a fun and exciting way to focus our students on the importance of eating healthy meals and snacks.
The Child Nutrition Department and Sodexho will conduct the "Second Annual Kids' Culinary Contest" for all students at the elementary level. The theme for this year's contest is "Be Smart, Eat Smart, Live Smart." Recipes must be submitted to school cafeteries by 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22. At 4:30 p.m. on Monday, March 10, student winners from each school will prepare their snacks for a panel of expert judges.
All finalists will receive medals, the top three finishers will take home trophies and the grand prize winner will win a new bicycle.
Students fill out the entry form with their favorite healthy snack or meal recipe. Recipes will be judged on:
- Health conscious foods
- Simple kid friendly preparation
- Fun kid foods
- Creativity in recipe
The goals of the contest are to teach students about good nutrition and to create opportunities for students to learn how to prepare and enjoy healthy snacks.
Please encourage students to enter the Kid’s Culinary Contest!
