School Arts in the Community

Arts Groups
District students have visited or been visited by Ballet Oklahoma, the Oklahoma Philharmonic Orchestra, the Oklahoma City Art Museum and the Kirkpatrick Center at the Omniplex as part of programs sponsored by the facilities and the Oklahoma State Arts Council. In addition, the City Arts Center which has housed numerous arts-related activities and opportunities for students. These arts groups act as valuable resources and partners in cooperative efforts.

Universities
Institutions of higher learning have broadened experiences for students, teachers and their schools by expanding the showcasing of talent, providing private lessons, acting individually as designers, clinicians and choreographers, providing assessment / critiques and valuable processing experiences. They have done this by providing students and arts educators with one-on-one time, competitions, productions, festivals, workshops, special performances and exhibits. Talented university groups also provide quest appearances.

Arts Festival
The Oklahoma City Arts Council sponsors the Oklahoma City Arts Festival that provides the perfect resource for visual and performing arts opportunities each year. Putnam City yearly participates in these events.

Displays and Performances
The Oklahoma State Capitol, State Superintendent’s Office, Youth Arts Gallery at the Omniplex, City Arts Center, Oklahoma Heritage Center, and the Oklahoma City Art Museum provides space to exhibit or perform within and challenging opportunities frequently for the district.

Partners in Education
Putnam City Schools has more than 240 Partners in Education partnerships. Many of these businesses and organizations support the arts through exposure, contributions or inkind services. Partnering schools participate in showcasing their talented students at these sites.
